mixed media canvas

This is a canvas I have been working on for the past couple of days, It's been quite a difficult project to make because I used so many different colours that really didn't go together to build up the background. I started by printing off the image from the Debbi Moore Twilight Queen and drew an outline of it on the canvas so I could place my items around it.

Then I hunted all through my stash of bits and pieces to build up the background, this part took hours of moving around until I was happy where it all was then stuck everything down. The image was covered with matt mod podge to seal it.

I found this really hard to try and imagine how this was going to look which all those colours. The next stage was to cover the lot with a primer, I hadn't got any white gesso so I mixed in a bit of plaster of paris to some white acrylic paint.

Once that layer was dried I started to add some colour, I painted a frame in black then introduced several different shades of red until I liked how it looked.

I left this over night to dry then this morning I added some extra bits of colour and gave it a spray with glimmer mist.

This is the finished canvas.

I am entering this into the following challenges.

OMG - this is so awesomely divine.... I would kill for it !!!
I must admit I was shocked when I saw all the bits stuck there before the paint..... I thought to myself "My god - what IS she doing"... but then I see the genius bit after and it's just mindblowing !!!!

I know Ike I wondered myself what I was doing lol! it was so hard to stick all those things down and try to image what it would be like at the end, I am really pleased with it now it's done though, will have to give this sort of project a go again soon :D xxxx
